Well, we have had a busy couple of weeks. Amazing just how much goes on in our lives. I suppose we wouldn't have it any other way.
Carlee did officially get her mission call. The day the we got her envelope, she begged us to come up to Logan so she could open it up with her grandparents. So we cancelled our life in the matter of 15 minutes and left for Logan. Natalie Thornton was here visiting with her new baby, Brad Hansen was here working on my cabinets, Tall Todd was working on the doorbell, Janet was here with Danielle and Brittany had a friend over. We were able to get in the car and on our way with a little grumbling from the kids, knowing that they were in for a long evening because we had to come back from Logan that same night.
Well, this would be a once in lifetime thing for our Carlee, so we made them all buck up and jump in the car. They did great and we got there and back by 1:00 am.
We picked Tom up in SLC where he had been doing a taping all day. Carlee left with her roommates, Shalyn and Natalie, and headed for Logan. This was at 6:00 p.m. So we called my parents and let them know we would be there in two hours for the envelope opening.
They were such troopers. They asked if there was anything they could do. I asked if we could possibly have some dinner when we got there. The kids were already starving. I figured a grilled cheese or something. When we got to Logan, they had prepared a waffle dinner with strawberry's and whip cream and bacon. We all really appreciated the effort they went to. By the time we all got there, we had 24 people, so it was a houseful.
When we all got there, Carlee read a thought and inspired us all. She sat right down between grandpa and grandma and read her calling. It would be to the Ohio Cincinnati Mission. I think it came as quite a shock to her, but as the shock has wore off, I think she is excited. She wants to get right out and on her mission. I don't think she is too sad that she doesn't have to learn a language.
Anyway, it was quite an evening and she was so well supported by our family. We had 24 of our family there, Karen, Holli, Jim & Zoma and her roomates were all there via cell phones. I think it was an overwhelming evening for her, but she certainly felt the love and support of all her family. We are so excited for her and she will be leaving on June 10th.
Brittany immediately figured how long her 18 months would be and when she would be back. She will only miss one birthday and Christmas of Brittany's so that made her really happy. We are so excited for her and she will be the best missionary. This is something she has really wanted since she was a little girl. We just couldn't be more proud.
Those pictures are worth a thousand words. They say it all
